If the grinding wheel surface grinder uses 36#~46#, the sand belt uses 46#~60# particle size. If the cylindrical grinding wheel is used with 60#~80# particle size, the sand belt is used with 80#~100# particle size. Of course, the selection of particle size should also be combined with the rigidity and operating skills of the grinder.
(2) In the case of the same workpiece roughness requirements, fine grain size should be used for high linear speed, and less coarse grain size should be used for low linear speed. (3) When processing metal materials and non-metallic materials, if the surface quality requirements are similar, the metal workpiece is processed with fine particle size, and the non-metallic workpiece is processed with coarser particle size.
(4) When processing the same kind of workpiece, the coarse grain size is selected during dry grinding; Select fine particle size when grinding wet processing, if using lubricating oil as coolant, choose finer particle size.
(5) For large contact area of sanding belt grinding, coarser grain size should be selected; Small contact area with fine particle size. For example, the contact surface of plane grinding is generally larger than the contact surface of outer grinding, so when processing the workpiece of the same material, the particle size of the plane grinding belt should be slightly thicker than that of the outer grinding belt.
(6) Select the particle size according to the material of the workpiece. When processing the metal with greater toughness or soft performance, the sanding belt is easy to be blocked, so it is appropriate to choose coarser grain size; When processing steel with greater hardness, fine particle size can be selected.
