In the grinding industry, the application of sandpaper is very wide, sandpaper can be divided into dry abrasive paper, waterproof abrasive paper, sponge sandpaper. What they all have in common is the use of binders to bond different abrasive and sandpaper substrates together.
Waterproof abrasive paper is made of a water-resistant matrix or a water-resistant treated matrix, and a synthetic resin or varnish is used as a binder to bond alumina or silicon carbide on the matrix. Since water abrasive paper can be immersed in water and polished, water abrasive paper is also known as water resistant sandpaper or water sandpaper,
The gap between the sand particles is small, when used alone, the debris generated by the sand paper and the workpiece is not easy to clean out, which needs to be used with water to make the debris flow out with the water, so that the surface of the sandpaper is kept clean and then achieve the fine grinding effect, and the sand paper is suitable for post-processing. Dry abrasive paper does not seem to be so troublesome, that is because the gap between the dry abrasive paper and the workpiece is large, and the debris ground between the dry abrasive paper and the workpiece will fall down due to the gap during the grinding process, but dry abrasive paper is generally suitable for rough grinding.
At the same time, the waterproof abrasive paper is generally polished under the condition of water, so there is less dust and better working conditions. Although dry sandpaper has the characteristics of anti-blockage, anti-static, good flexibility and high wear resistance, dust pollution is heavy, and appropriate protective facilities need to be worn during operation (but it is also acceptable to face the strong function of dry sandpaper).
